Why wax at all? What are eyelash extensions?

Waxing is one of the best ways to temporarily remove unwanted hair. Waxing removes the entire hair from the root not just from the surface of the skin, making it far more effective than shaving. Over time, and with repeated waxing, unwanted hair grows back thinner and finer.

Not to be confused with strip false eyelashes or individual clusters of lashes knotted together that are a single-event accessory, these semi-permanent, Mink or Silk extensions are glued one by one onto the natural lash by using a specially formulated adhesive to achieve a beautiful full luscious and long set of lashes that are natural and you won't even know are there.

Does it hurt?

As you may guess, some areas are more sensitive than others and there may be some slight discomfort, but with our experienced estheticians, the discomfort will be minimal. Taking a mild anti-inflammatory thirty minutes prior to your visit may help to reduce inflammation and pain.  Caffeine, pregnancy and menstruation can cause increased sensitivity during waxing.

How are the eyelash extensions applied?

A single natural eyelash is isolated and a Mink or Silk lash is applied to the top of your own natural eyelash approximately 1mm from the eyelid so neither the glue or the lash has contact with the skin.

How long will my waxing take? How long does the application take?

Depending on the services selected and the density of your hair growth, your waxing appointment will take between fifteen minutes to one hour.

The procedure will take approximately 2 hours for a full set and approximately 1 hour for fluff. You relax with your eyes closed and there is no pain as this is a non-invasive procedure. Often clients are so relaxed they fall asleep.

Your first wax

You must have at least 2-3 weeks worth of hair growth for your first wax. Your first wax may only last a few weeks, however you may notice your hair growing back even sooner. Because your hair grows in cycles this is common, but with each wax your hair will grow in much finer and slower allowing more time in between waxes.  If you used to shave, a few treatments may be required to see the full beneficial effects of the waxing.

Do eyelash extensions make my own lashes fall out?

No, definitely not this is a myth. The eyelash has a cycle and is constantly being replaced like your hair.  Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles every 60 to 90 days. This process is constant and our natural lashes are at different stages of maturity, some are just growing in, while others are ready to shed. People typically lose between 1 and 5 natural lashes each day, depending on their individual growth cycles.

Can I still wear eye makeup?

Thicker hair growth after your waxing service is a myth and the answer is definitely NO! Usually, re-growth is finer, thinner and slower in areas that are waxed on a regular basis.

Yes, but you won’t need mascara but you can still use eyeliner and eye shadows as long as they're oil free. We recommend removing make-up with a product that does not contain oil of any kind as this will affect the adhesive. To remove eye shadow wipe in an upward movement not down onto the eyelash extensions.   Wiping down towards the lashes will cause a buildup of makeup on the lashes and may lessen the life of them.

What s the difference between Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peels?

The biggest difference between microdermabrasion and a chemical peels is the amount of exfoliation to the skin. Microdermabrsion offers a surfacing exfoliation and can be a mildly invasive. While a chemical peel is a more aggressive method that removes entire layers of skin and sometimes requires recovery time.

Both microdermabrasion and chemical peels are used to remove dead layers from skin for a more youthful appearance. Fine lines, superficial scars, sun damage and poor texture can be improved after several treatments.

Can I wear mascara?

You won’t have to.  You can roll out of bed looking great and best of all it will make your lashes look like you’re wearing mascara 24/7 without the clumping, streaking and smudging look that you get with mascara. If desired you can wear a non-waterproof on the lower lashes but remember to use an eye makeup remover that contains no oil.

Can I curl eyelash extensions?

Using a clamp eyelash curler is not recommended and will lessen the life of your eyelash extensions and perhaps damage them. You can however use a low heated eyelash curler but do not over use it.

What is DiamondTome Microdermabrasion?

DiamondTome Microdermabrasion is a skin resurfacing system that utilizes a sterile wand embedded with diamond chips along with vacuum suction.  It is designed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation and even mild acne scarring by removing the top layer of your skin. It also will stimulate a reaction at the dermis and epidermis levels producing improved skin elasticity, tone, and texture.  DiamondTome Microdermabrasion is less of an invasive exfoliation procedure than that of the older method of crystal exfoliation, and requires very little recovery time after treatment.

I had eyelash extensions applied a few days ago and a few lashes have fallen out - why?

As explained above the lash has a growth cycle and unfortunately it is hard to determine which lash is ready to fall out naturally so it is unpredictable when applying the synthetic lashes. If you sleep on your stomach with your face squashed into the pillow or you favor sleeping on one side you may notice the lashes may not last as well as the other side.

How often will I need a fluff?

You will require fluffs every 2-4 weeks if you would like to achieve a consistently full set of lashes. During your fluff we take the time to remove any eyelash extensions that have either grown out to far or are not sitting correctly.

Can the eyelash extensions be removed?

Yes, at any time for any reason they can be removed however there will be a removal charge. Refer to prices.   The extension lashes are easily removed by using a glue remover that is safe.

What should I do before my eyelash extension appointment?

A chemical peel is a treatment used to improve and smooth the texture of the skin using a chemical solution that causes the dead skin to slough off and eventually peel.  The regenerated skin is usually smoother with fewer lines, unlike microdermabrasion, chemical peels come in different strengths which are more ideal for people looking for greater results. The recovery time after a chemical peel depends on what peeling acid was used. Glycolic peels are best because they are a lighter form of a peel with the same great results as a medical grade peel.

What is a Chemical Peel?

Please arrive with no makeup or at least no mascara and do not perm or curl your eyelashes before your eyelash extension appointment.
